Our Founder’s Story

Maropeng Modiba qualified as a pharmacist in 1994 after graduating from University Of The North (Now UL).

His vision was to always been to develop himself and the communities around him, become a provider of growth and business solutions and contribute largely towards the need for development and transformation in the country.

Mr Modiba became the first African to run and own a retail pharmacy in the former traditional white city of the then Pietersburg in 1996 aged 25.. He qualified for the first time as a tutor through accreditation of the South African Pharmacy Council in 1999. He has since trained two pharmacist interns and several pharmacist assistants.

He became a close associate of the Association of Pharmacy Students at the University of the North (now UL) during his early days in business. Over eighteen pharmacy students have done vocational training at his pharmacy between 1996 and 2016.

In 1999 Mr Modiba opened second pharmacy, CITYMED PHARMACY in Jorrisen Street. In 2002 together with his wife they opened BINAMED PHARMACY in Compensate Street in Polokwane.

CITYMED PHARMACY was later sold to Mr Modiba’s employee while BINAMED was closed when the centre in which it operated closed down upon the death of the owner.

Together with specialists in Polokwane we also opened TSHIMARO PHARMACY in Burger Street in 2006, which was also closed when major participants in the centre relocated to Gauteng.

In line with the government’s intention to take pharmaceutical care to the people, Mr Modiba opened the first pharmacy in the rural municipality of Molemole in 2007, in the village of Botlokwa. This proved to be a very essential service needed by the community there and continues to play a vital role in the provision of healthcare in rural communities.

The need to take healthcare to the people and improve the socio economic conditions of the previously disadvantaged saw Mr Modiba opening another pharmacy in the rural town of Nzhelele in 2013.

In 2013 a plan was derived to consolidate all operations under the entity DELINE INVESTMENTS (PTY) LTD with Maropeng Modiba and Tshifhiwa Modiba as main directors.
